Match Fishing gets a sneak peak at the brand new kit from Preston Innovations due soon.
Preston Innovations has announced a new range of cutting-edge poles due to hit the shops in time for Christmas.
Featuring five new models, from an entry level commercial 'basher' to what is being described as the ultimate competition pole, Match Fishing got to take a sneaky peak at what was on offer, being talked through the range by no less than match legend, Tommy Pickering.
GiS One XS Taking over from the cult original bearing the ‘One’ name, the One XS is the result of a whole year’s development with the aim of creating the ultimate competition pole for UK anglers. As you’d expect from the top of the range model the One XS is as light and strong as they come and for £3000 offers a massively comprehensive package, including: five match top 4 kits, five power top 2 kits, a short number 4 and a cup kit.
GiS Absolute 11 Designed to bridge the range gap between the 2600 and the One XS, the GiS Absolute 11 feels like an impressive piece of kit – as you’d expect from the Absolute title. Slightly stronger than the existing Absolute 14, for £2000 you get a package containing two match top 4 kits, two match top 3 kits, five power top 2 kits, a short number 4 and a cup kit.
GXR 2600 and 1600 The new poles replace the 2001 and 1001 models, coming in stiffer, stronger, and in the 1600 case, longer. Both poles come with extensions to deliver a full 16meters (the 1001 was only 14.5m) with prices being £800 for the 1600 package and £1000 for the 2600 package which give you – both including two match top three kits and two pulla kits.
GXR Tyson Preston’s new entry-level pole, the Tyson looks like a tough little 14.5m unit being designed primarily for targeting commercial carp. The Tyson package comes with two power top kits, and one pulla kit a mini extension and a cup kit for just £600.
Other Kit As well as the new poles, a number of other Preston products due for release caught out eye. Mega Pro V Roller Ultra sturdy and massively adjustable this new roller offers a number of intelligent features. The innovative new stops on either side to stop your section blowing out of the roller in windy conditions, while the split roller in the centre allows you to ship back a second section with ease when you need to break down twice. The good news for V Roller owners is that you can buy the stops separately to retro fit your roller.
Monster EVA Bag Measuring a whopping 66cm by 60cm, this new bag has been designed to swallow up to four keepnets – as well as landing net and the Monster side tray. Fully waterproof another trick feature is the drainage through plugs in the base.
Deep Water Pulla Bung Kit Designed specifically for deep venues where a top 4 kit or more is needed, this new large bung is sized to fit sections from 4 to 6. Used with the original Pulla Bung from Preston, the new bung is attached to the pole elastic by the supplied Power Gum via a Hollo connector, which allows the elastic to be pulled in the usual way. It can also be connected and disconnected on the bank, so there’s no need to set aside a top 4 especially to use it.
