We get a look at three new ranges set to provide a high-quality rod for every situation and venue.
Preston Innovations has announced a new range of rods due to hit the shops in time for Christmas.
Containing both kit for commercial anglers and rods for more traditional venues, Match Fishing was invited to take an advanced look at what was offer - with no less than England International Des Shipp talking us through the brand new range.
Taking over the top end of the Preston rod stable from the highly-regarded Excel series, the new Absolute range consists of a total of nine rods – six float, three feeder. The qualities of the Absolute range was formed following talks with anglers from across the country which revealed a need for rods to fish more traditional venues and not just commercials. Absolute Super float, 12 and 13foot. The top float fishing rods from Preston which took 12 months of continual development to perfect. Designed for lines from 2lb to 6lb. the addition of two extra guides on the tip section of the 13foot gives a softer action than the standard Absolute float, while the 12foot delicate hollow tip gives precise control while giving enough cushion to use light hooklengths.
Absolute Float, 13, 14, 15 and 17foot With a more gutsy through action the 13foot is designed for lines of 3lb to 8lb, the same as the 14foot which offers an increased casting range and better line control at distance. The 15 and 17foot rods come into their own on rivers where their length and lightened, fast tip speeds give precise control and quick line pick up while still being able to fish with light hooklengths.
Absolute Super feeder, 11.6 and 12foot Perfect for more tradition feeder work for stillwater bream and roach, the two rods are also spot on for bomb and method work too. Both are designed for line between 3lb and 6lb, but offer an action forgiving enough for lighter hooklinks. Both come with three tips.
Absolute Feeder. 12.6foot With more guts in the butt section to cast feeders that bit further than the Super Feeder rods, the 12foot 6inch Feeder would be at home on stillwaters targeting bream shoals or after chub on rivers.
Designed specifically for commercials the new range of rods looks set to continue the success of the existing Mini Series range.
Mini Series Power Carp 11.6foot Designed to give feeder anglers a bit more grunt for longer cast or more accurate casting in bad conditions, the Power carp feeder rod still delivers the action that’s helped make the carbon active Mini Series so popular with commercial fishery anglers.
Mini F1 12foot float 2 piece Joining the F1 stable of the Mini Series rod range, the F1 12foot float is designed to cast floats up to 8g delivering a soft action to hit shy bites and get fish to the net on lighter lines.
Mini 12foot float Developed for pellet waggler fishing, the 12foot float has a powerful through action and is capable of launching floats up to 20g at distance.
Developed for the long range feeder fishing found on mainland Europe, the Competition rod range still has its applications in the UK.
14foot competition feeder At 14foot long this feeder rod can chuck feeders to the horizon with ease and accuracy and is rated for lines between 4lb and 8lb.
Dutch Master 13.2foot feeder Built from powerful blanks, the Dutch Master can launch a full-loaded feeder some 80yards with ease.
