Biggest cash prize in history of UK angling set to double for 2012.
The biggest match prize in UK angling history is to be doubled Match Fishing can reveal, following the news that the prize for next year’s Maver Mega Match This final is set to total a staggering £100k.
This year’s final saw angler Andy Power walk away with a cool £50k - an amount that made angling history. However, Maver has now announced that it has hopes to up the winner-takes-all final prize pot to a staggering £100k for the 2012 event.
“We’re now preparing to make next year’s event even bigger,” said a spokesperson for the company, “and we have high hopes of presenting the 2012 winner with a cheque for £100k – a life changing amount of money.
“We are guaranteeing at least £50k will be paid out, with the further £50k depending on the number of anglers who enter. But with the competition being such as success this year we’re very confident that we will be paying out the full amount to one very lucky angler.”
The 2012 Maver Match This competition will run to a similar format to this year’s event, with 24 qualifiers being fished between April 7 and August 12 across the country.
The big money final is scheduled to take place at Larford Lakes on September 1.
