The sixth angler to take a coveted spot in the 2012 Fish ‘O’ Mania grand final has been decided.
Following an amazingly tight qualifier at Leicester’s Peatling Lakes, just 250grams separated the top two anglers, with local angler Peter Marlow taking the top spot with 43kg 750grams to second placed Barry Mason’s 43kg 500grams.
Impressively Peter’s winning weight consisted just of silvers, with chub and barble up to 2kg taken on small cage feeder tactics fished to an island using meat, caster and pellets. Peter put together the winning weight from peg 12 on lake C on the day.
Just shy of the win, Barry, who had made the trip over from March, Cambridgeshire, caught carp and F1s for his total, fishing corn over pellet on the pole at 16metres from Plough Pool’s peg 24.
Third spot went to another Leicestershire angler John Hall. Fishing Peg 5 on Magna pool John caught steadily through the day to record 38 kilos and 50 grams on the method feeder.
In fourth place was previous Fish ‘O’ Mania Champion Marc Jones on Peg 15. Marc weighed 29 kilos 250 grams with his best fish nudging 7 kilos.
