Nidd Hall Hotel, a popular Grade II listed retreat in the heart of Yorkshire has announced a new competitive fishing event this summer. ‘The Nidd Hall Coarse Fishing Competition’ will take place on Saturday May 26 and hopes to attract anglers from across the UK.
The 24-peg competition will take place on the lake within the stunning grounds of Nidd Hall, with the 4.5 acre containing good stocks of tench, carp, roach and perch.
Anglers will compete over five hours for a first prize of £200 along with sums of £150 for second and £100 for third. A prize of £50 will also be given to the person with the heaviest single fish, and there will be another £50 for the winner of the peg ‘lucky dip’.
For those competitors wishing to turn their fishing trip into a relaxing weekend away, a three-night break on Friday May 25 starts from just £329 per person, based on two people sharing standard accommodation.
A bespoke ‘Hook, Line and Pamper’ package has even been created to enable would-be ‘fishing widows’ to enjoy the weekend event with their partners. Couples staying for the fishing weekend are invited to take advantage of a 20percent discount off all treatments in the hotel’s Spa and Leisure Club, as well as free use of its facilities; including a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, pilates studio and fully equipped gym.
Rob Jenkins, General Manager at the hotel said: "Still one of Britain's favourite pastimes, we’ve noticed how popular fishing is amongst our guests. The lake at Nidd Hall is a fisherman’s oasis, so it made perfect sense to launch an annual fishing event to make the most of everything the hotel has to offer; a well stocked lake for those who enjoy to fish, and a beautiful setting and excellent facilities for their partners to enjoy.”
