Fifty four anglers attended this latest "Match This" qualifier event held at Willinghurst Fishery, Surrey.
Willinghurst, 28th May, 2011
Conditions on the day made fishing difficult with strong winds and heavy out-bursts of rain resulting in bites being difficult to come by.
Winner on the day, and booking his place in the Maver "Match This" Grand final was John Taylor (Colmic Apollo). Fishing from peg 5 on Cherry Tree lake, John fished both feeder and the pole alternating between corn and meat hookbaits to take twenty two carp for a match-winning 86-00-00.
Sonu Baits rod Eddie Green finished runner-up, booking his place in the £5,000 final on the Arena Lake, with 81-11-00 of mainly carp caught from peg 2 on the Top lake.
In third place, Mick Hughes (Hydro) fished with a ticket transferred from Jack Harness to put a total of 80-04-00 on the scales from peg 22 on the Top lake, missing out on a final placing by just 1lb 7oz. However, Mick still qualifies for the 2011 Maver Pole Championships at Maver Larford on 14th August.
