All Set For River Fest Final

River on song - and prize fund receives £4,000 boost!
This weekend is set to host the inaugral final of the big money Riverfest competition. Taking place on the River Wye at Hereford, a total of 60 anglers will be competing to win a share of the £25,200 prize fund on offer. The winner will walk away with a £10,000 cheque, and the prestigious title of Angling Trust RiverFest Champion 2013.

Organiser, Dave Harrell believes the river couldn't be in better fettle for the weekends match, commenting: "With the weather we have had over the last few weeks, I think the river will be in great shape come the weekend. To be honest, I can't think how it could be any better - other than qualifying myself of course!

"We had heavy rain last week, which gave the system a real flush through, which to be honest it needed after being low and clear for so long. Now it is fining down, it will be a brilliant match. Any number of species could come into play, and I fully expect the overall result to be a very close affair. I would encourage anyone with an interest in river fishing to come down and take a look, with perfect conditions predicted and a host of top anglers taking part, I think the final will provide a real spectacle."

It has also been announced that an extra £1,200 has been added to the prize pool.

An additional place has been added to the list of overall prizes with 6th place now claiming £700. Ten section winners each day will also see their pay out increase to £175.

Both Thames Water and Severn Trent Water are contributing a total of £4,000 sponsorship which will go towards the prize pot for the grand final, a sign of their continued support and commitment to angling and river fishing in their respective regions.

Leading bait company Bait-Tech will be providing each finalist with a selection of bait for the final, which includes Bait-Tech’s new Pro Natural groundbait as well as a variety of Halibut feed and hook pellets, Halibut Marine Method Mix groundbait, tins of Superseed hemp and assorted Hybrid barbel hookbaits, a package worth almost £2,000.

Daiwa Sports have also donated their latest TDR2508 reel worth £245 for the angler who catches the biggest fish over the weekend, and the section stewards also have a chance of getting in on the action with a prize draw to win a TDM2508 reel worth £150.

Spectators are invited to come along and watch the action. Parking and entry is free for Angling Trust members and you’ll be able to watch and meet some of the best river anglers in the country doing their stuff. There is a path along the full length of the river where the match will be held and access is easy. Cars should be parked in the field adjacent to the Hereford Rowing Club at the bottom of Greyfriars Avenue.

Spectators will also have the use of the facilities and be able to get refreshments at the rowing club where there will be a bookmaker present to take bets on your fancied anglers.

In addition, Dave Harrell, the man behind the idea of RiverFest, will be on hand to answer your questions and to show you his full range of DH Angling products. Sky Sports will also be in attendance on 17th November to televise the event.

The draw takes place each day at 8am and the club is open to Angling Trust members from 9am. Fishing is from 10.30am until 3.30pm each day.
