Side trays are an essential item of tackle for the comfort and organisation of your session. And as match anglers we are using larger and larger side trays, especially when wading on natural waters. One huge problem that anglers have been faced with is supporting the weight on these large side trays. Supporting legs are the common choice but there are situations when you cannot use them – deep margins or narrow commercial platforms being just two cases.

Match Fishing gets its hands on the brilliant new Octbox D25 MK18. The Octbox team really are the best at listening to what their customers want. The head of design, Rick Tyler, spends hours on the phone to his many customers and always looks for ways to incorporate what they are saying and to improve the highly popular seatbox range. The D25 MK18 is the perfect example of listening to customer feedback and making improvements.

Perfectly Functional! Tom Scholey expresses his love of a seatbox system that he firmly believes is the best ever made. There is absolutely no need for any kind of platform when you own an Octbox! I have certainly been guilty in the past of looking for fashion over function when selecting a seatbox. Indeed, I probably made the ultimate sacrifice for doing so too – when my old ‘pretty’ box gave way, causing me to fall into the lake. I was also guilty of being very cynical when I first set eyes on a Nordik Octbox.

A perfect seatbox for the beginner or the angler on a tight budget, the BX5 Match+ is a great option. It has five spacious drawers that will easily accommodate plenty of gear, along with a deep base unit to house larger items. There is also a winder tray beneath the cushioned pole seat. The box has four adjustable 20mm square legs with large, swivelling mudfeet for awkward banks.

This seatbox is the choice of Will Raison and offers a nice compact box. It has a four-drawer unit and deep base meaning the box has an awful lot of storage space. The sliding footplate is ultra-stable and won’t let you down. RRP: £315 .
