Conditions were against the Anglers of AAF group 1 on their 4th qualifier of the year, a cold snap overnight had shrouded Johns Lake at Willinghurst in fog and this stopped the hoped for skimmers from feeding for most of the match. Ian Graves (Arborfield) targeted the lakes carp stocks by fishing a 6mm pellet on a pellet method feeder all match for 9.040Kg of carp. Pete Birtles (Arborfield) came second with 8.460Kg, he started with the pole at 5 and 13m fishing maggot on both lines for quality roach before switching to a groundbait method feeder for 4 carp in the final stages of the match. Sat next to Pete was Dave Thompson (Aldershot), he struggled until 4 carp in the final 30 minutes saw him weigh 8.450Kg and agonising 10g away from a section win. Top team on the day was Arborfield on 6 points but Aldershot had the same number of points, 6, but conceded on section countback.
