The day was overcast but with an air of great expectations as 36 anglers settled down to round one of the Bag'em Matchbaits Silver League for pairs at Dog Lane Fishery this week.
Orfe proved to be the winners bag at peg 14 where Paul Malin put 13lb 8oz of them onto the scales. Paul's Partner Daryl Parry on peg 25 caught enough for 6 points and their combined 7 points put them in second place.
Second best weight of the day came from Carl Baker at peg 5 who found some of the 2lb billies, orfe and good stamp roach to put 12lb 2oz 12dr on the scales. Carl's 2 point section win and his partner Kevin Folwell's 3 points from peg 37 gave them 5 points for an overall win.
Third best weight went to Gil Corns on peg 31 with 12lb 4dr of caster roach. However, this league is won or lost on section points and Gil Corn's one point section win could not be matched by his partner Carl Hulley on peg7 who could only muster 13points, putting them in 5th overall place.
The third overall pairs place went to Keith Finch on peg 30 with 2 points and Paul Knapman on peg 10 with 8 points total 10 points..
The weeks best perch fell to Rob Cash at Peg2 with a fine pot bellied billie of 2lb 9oz 12dr.
