Bud Scores The Hat Trick!

Preston ace makes it three wins on the bounce!

Winning three consecutive matches is difficult enough – but winning three 50+ peggers on the ultra competitive fens circuit is nothing short of a momentous achievement – and that is exactly what Preston Innovations and Sonubaits backed ace Michael Buchwalder has achieved.

Bread has been the secret to success for the Milton Keynes based kitchen fitter, and this weeks result has been the lowest winning weight for the rod – and he still banked over 22lb of roach.

He explained: “Although it is a fair old drive to the fens for me, it has been well worth the trip every time, as I have enjoyed three great days fishing – and won a fair bit of money in the process! I have undoubtedly drawn some very good pegs, and this week was no different – but the fish don’t jump in the net, and there are definitely things that you can do to improve the efficiency of your fishing.

In this weeks match, I had to chase the fish up and down my peg, varying the distance that I was fishing to keep in touch with fish. It was also important to vary the size of float that I used – in the end, I was using a tiny 4x10 pattern as the flow of the river stopped almost completely.

I am delighted to have won three such matches on the bounce – and am now the highest placed angler on the Kamasan table who has won all their points from a natural venue – which is something of an achievement in itself.

There is one more big open match on the Fens, which is scheduled for 9th March – lets hope that my drawing arm stays with me and I can make it four wins on the bounce!”
