Can Anyone 'match This' Mega Weekend?

Scores of top anglers are set to do battle for the prestigious Maver Mega Match This weekend extravaganza!

The 2013 Mega 'Match This' Final takes place on the Match Lake at Maver Larford Lakes this Saturday, 31st August and will be shown on Sky TV in the autumn. Competing are some of the top names in the UK, including Fish O Mania champ Jamie Hughes, former Match This champ Andy Power, England International Tommy Pickering, Maver's own Andy Kinder and Match Fishing and Pole Fishing's very own Tom Scholey!

The Maver Mega 'Match This' event is the richest angling competition in the history of the sport offering one lucky angler the opportunity to lift the converted 'Match This' trophy standing over half a metre tall and receive the minimum £50,000 first place prize. This year's final will once again see 24 of angling's best from up and down the country compete for the sport's richest ever prize. There will also be an equally prestigious team championship event taking place on Sunday 1st September, which will see National representation from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as International representation for the very first time from team Poland. The Mega Match This weekend will pay out a total of £64,000 across both finals and, once again, establish itself as the must win event in the match angling calendar.

The event first made history back in 2011 when a 23 year-old unemployed angler from Somerset walked away with a life-changing £50,000 - the richest prize ever given in the history of the sport! In 2012, the event awarded local angler Les Thompson £50,000 plus an additional £8,000 between 2nd and 3rd placed anglers. This year, twenty four more hopefuls go head to head in a bid to be crowned the next Mega 'Match This' Champion.

Members of the public are actively encouraged to come and view both events with food and drinks available on-site and activities for all the family. Toilets are also provided over the course of the weekend.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to view Maver fishing tackle within a purpose-built 12m x 18m marquee housing all of the latest product innovations. There will also be a number of high profile anglers on site offering tips, advice and product demonstrations including Maver's own Steve Mayo.

Entry into Larford Lakes is completely free of charge on both Saturday and Sunday with a small car park charge of just £3 per car for the use of a safe and secure hard-standing car park.

Gates open for spectators from 9.30am onwards on both days. Saturday's Grand Final commences at 12 noon and ends at 5pm. The final presentation will take place at approximately 6pm. Sunday's Team Championship final will fish from 12 noon until 5pm, with gates opening to the public from 9.30am.

Come along and witness angling's elite go head-to-head for the sport's richest prize at Maver Larford Lakes. Where will you be when the 2013 Mega 'Match This' Champion is crowned, and angling history is made... again?
