Dent's The Opposition!

22 year old angler enjoys incredible run of form.
When it comes to winning big matches, 21 year old James Dent must be among the most in form angler in the country. The England Youth International has followed up a fantastic year in 2012, with a blistering start to his 2013 campaign – winning two 50+ peg matches, and framing in a further three already – on tactics ranging from fishing popped up baits on the bomb for carp, to bloodworm and joker fishing for roach.

The Teesside based MAP and Marukyu backed rod explained: “I am really enjoying my fishing at the minute, and things just seem to be going right for me. Although I started my career as an out and out commercial angler, since joining Ultimate Barnsley Blacks, I have had cause to really broaden my skills, and I am loving the variety in my fishing at the moment.

The Stainforth and Keadby Canal has been a happy hunting ground for me this year, I have won two matches outright since the start of the bloodworm season, and framed in five others –ending up second in the pre Christmas individual league. The post Christmas pairs has got off to a great start for me and partner, Andy Geldart as well-  I won the first match, and finished fourth in the second – and we currently enjoy a comfortable lead in the overall series.

Hayfield Lakes has been another venue that has been kind to me. I finished second and third in two rounds of the Northern Sensas Challenge match, and I also finished second to Lee Kerry in the Halkon Hunt Anniversary Match. In addition to this, I won a round of the 50+ peg post Christmas pairs series, and won my section in another.

I am certainly having the rub of the green when it comes to drawing, but I feel I am fishing well as well. I can only hope that 2013 carries on as it has started!”
