Drennan Forge Ahead

New team, and individual sponsorships for tackle giant.
Top tackle firm, Drennan International has announced that they are to sponsor two new teams, and five top flight individual consultants. River fishing legend, Wayne Swinscoe, England Feeder Team ace Dean Barlow, England Veteran Roger Marlow, South East rod Chris Vandervleit, and East Anglian matchman, Steve Winters are all to join the stable as sponsored anglers.

In addition to the signings, Drennan have also sponsored the old Leicester Sensas (now Drennan Leicester Sensas) and Milo Bordon (now Drennan Bordon.)

Drennan's Gary Barclay explained: "We are having a big push in the match fishing market at present, and alongside developing new products, we have enlisted the help of several new individual consultants, and sponsored teams in a bid to help us increase awareness in the market. As always with our sponsorship deals, the emphasis for us is as much about learning what we can do better as it is about promoting what we do right - so none of our sponsored anglers are obliged to use our gear, we are happy for them to use whatever they want. This way we get the benefit of their experience, and if they think another company's product is better, they can tell us why, and we can improve what we offer.

The first thing we look for, aside from obviously angling ability, is nice people. Chris Vandervleit, Wayne Swinscoe, Dean Barlow and Steve Winters all tick this box, and bring a great deal to the party.

We have already sponsored two teams in the shape of Drennan Leicester and Drennan Bordon, and have propositioned a couple more teams, and are working on deals at the moment.

Over coming months, expect to see several new product launches, including pole floats, landing nets and clothing - it really is a very exciting time for Drennan International."

Wayne Swinscoe told Match Fishing he was delighted to make the sponsorship official. He explained: "It is a privilege and an honour to be involved with such a prestigious company in a formal capacity. Truth be told, I have always been sponsored by Drennan. Peter Drennan, the company owner and founder, approached me and Frank Barlow in the 70s, when we were fishing on the Thames at Medley. He was just starting out, and gave us a handful of wagglers each, and asked us to feedback our thoughts on them. He has been generous enough to give me whatever tackle I have wanted ever since, so it is nice to finally be able to promote the brand properly."

The new signings join an already formidable pool of talent under the Drennan banner, including Alan Scotthorne, Simon Willsmore, Darren Davies, Paul Yates, Steve Hemingray and Stu Conroy.
