EDAA vs Taunton Association Interclub| 18/03/12
Number of pegs/anglers: 25
Report: Ten anglers from Taunton Angling Association travelled down for the return fixture hosted by Exeter at their Kia Ora fishery in Cullompton. With 25 fishing in total the match had to be split with 8 on the silver and 17 on the gold pond. The club had recently stocked 700 small carp into the silver lake so it was hoped this could provide a reasonable days fishing for everyone. There had been a hard overnight frost in Cullompton overnight and on the day the weather was changeable with some blustery wind and cold showers.
Overall Exeter had the best total weight with 55kg to Taunton's 14kg but the sport was very dissapointing with 5 anglers on both lakes failing to get a bite! On the silver pond only three anglers recorded a weight with less than 15 of the new fish being caught - it seems like a much bigger stocking will be required to bring the sport back to a respectable level. The majority of the action was had by two anglers at oppsite ends of the back waters in the gold pond.
Winner on the day was Zac Newton (Team ALS) fishing from peg 36 he totalled 17kg 420g to take the £70 1st prize. He fished the pole into the deepest water down to his left and up to the right to land 7 carp in total with fish to 9lb's all falling to paste over small amounts of micro pellet feed. Keith Carpenter was second from peg 1 with a waggler caught catch of 5 carp totalling 11k 50g, he took a prize of £60. There were two default section winners on the gold pond each winning £25: Section A Roly Palmer (Team Jinx) 5k 190g from peg 20, he caught 5 smaller carp and a few silvers fishing the pole toward the sunken cage. Seciton B Simon Garbutt with 5k 780g from peg 28. On the silver pond John Andrew took the £45 top prize for his catch of 3k 50gr which included 9 of the new fish falling to maggot fished on the pole. Second was Gorgon Parkin who had 7 fish on the pole for a total weight of 2k 730gr and a £25 prize.
