Exciting Changes For Match Fishing Team Championship.
The number of teams who can qualify for this year’s Match Fishing Team Championship has been increased from two, to six.

Taking place on August Bank Holiday Monday, this popular event sees 14 of the best teams in the country clash on Evesham’s Warwickshire Avon, in what is regarded as one of match fishing’s most prestigious team matches. In years gone by, entry has been by invitation only, though, in recent years one team per year has been able to qualify in a one-off team match in July.

This year, two qualifying matches will be held, however, with one taking place on Sunday, July 6th and the other on Sunday, July 20th. Three teams will qualify from each match, meaning a total of six qualifying teams will join eight invited teams in the final.

The Evesham Festival’s official reporter, Tom Scholey explained: “With the quality of angler in many of the UK’s top teams now, selecting who does and who does not deserve an invitation gets more difficult every year.

“For this reason, and to freshen up the field, we believe the fairest way to go is to give more teams the chance to qualify. With two qualifiers taking place this year, we will have a total of six qualifying teams, and eight invited teams in the final, battling it out for the top prize.”

The eight invited teams are:
Drennan Barnsley Blacks
Kamasan Starlets
Daiwa Dorking
Shakespeare Superteam
Maver Bait-Tech

Matrix Dynamite Trentmen
WB Clarke

Invited teams should receive their invite in the post within the next 28 days. Teams interested in taking part in either of the qualifiers should call Diana Raphael to book in on:  01386 442458
