Glenfield In The Final

River legend, Paul Glenfield books his place in Wychavon Final.
Oxford-based river ace, and Match Fishing regular, Paul Glenfield has booked his place in the Wychavon Final after winning the first Evesham Festival qualifying match of the year.

With the river carrying a tinge of extra colour and a healthy pace, the Warwickshire Avon threw up some very pleasing weights.

Paul caught three bream, and around 5lb of smaller skimmers and perch on chopped worm tactics from Peg 1 at the top of the Crown Meadow. He rotated between lines at five metres, 11 metres and 16 metres to keep fish coming, fishing a 2g round-bodied float and a piece of dendrobaena on the hook.

In second place was Welsh rod, Paul Johnson, who drew the opposite end peg to the winner, Peg 87 right outside the Cricket Club. Paul caught most of his fish on waggler and maggot tactics, taking a good bream and chub, and a host of smaller fish.

In third place was Drennan ace, Darren Davies. Drawn on Peg 52, Darren opted to fish a whopping 18 metres of pole and a light, 4x10 strung out rig with maggots to find a succession of chub and smaller chublets.

With only one qualifying place being awarded on Wednesday matches this year, it was the winner, Paul Glenfield, who booked his place in the Wychavon Championship Final.
