Holland Are World Champions

The men in orange take gold thanks to a fantastic two-day display.

Finishing on a two-day total of 38 points, the Netherlands took the title by a six-point margin from Czech Republic who finished on 44.

For Drennan Team England it was a disappointing Day Two as the anglers failed to improve on their Day One score and slumped to a 16th placed finish.

It was a disappointing result for the team following last year's gold, but the venue turned out to be a bridge too far. Hugely alien to our anglers, the raging man-made channel just proved too much of a handful.

On the individual front Serbia’s ‘Mr Barbel’ Goran Radovic took the gold with a stunning two-point score. Goran has been a consistent performer for a number of years and specialises on big, fast-flowing waters such as the one the anglers were faced with.

Two anglers from the successful Dutch side filled the remainder of the top three with Stefan Altena taking silver and Arjan Klopp taking the bronze.

We will have more information on the event over the coming days.
