Maver's Jamie in Match This Final
Maver and Bag 'em Baits-backed ace, Jamie Hughes has booked his place in the 2013 Maver Match This Grand Final at Larford Lakes. Jamie has been in fantastic form during previous Match This qualifiers having already qualified for the British Pole Championships on a number of occasions. Drawing Peg 9 on Milo lake, Jamie fished the Method feeder tight to the island to take carp up to 8lb for a final weight of 111-04-00, winning the match by a comfortable margin.

Ninety-four anglers attended this qualifier, the first ever hosted by the popular Cudmore Fisheries in Newcastle-under-Lyme. With fish spawning throughout the week leading up to the qualifier, and with conditions on the day feeling quite cool courtesy of a stiff breeze, anglers were expecting a difficult match. However, the resident carp showed well considering and nearly 80lb was needed to finish in the top three.

Finishing in second place, and narrowly missing out on a place in the final was Garbolino (Elton) rod, Gregg Norris. Gregg drew  Peg 28 on the Arena lake and fished paste at 14m to catch carp to 6lb, offering 93lb exactly to the scales at the end of the five hours.

Andy May (MAP/Marukyu) finished in third place from Peg 29, also on Arena. Andy finished the match with 79-14-00 fishing bomb and meat.

Fourth on the day was Jason Law. Jason drew Peg 18 on Arena and caught the majority of his 69-00-00 on pole and pellet fished up in the water.

In fifth place, and securing a place in the British Pole Championships, was Darren Shaw. Darren drew Peg 22 on Suez lake and started his match on meat before switching to the margins late on for a final 68-08-00.
