Kerry: "i Have The Edge"

Lee Kerry confident as Drennan Final gets underway.
Drennan Knockout Cup finalist – and Preston Innovations and Sonubaits rod, Lee Kerry feels that experience gained from fishing the final two years ago will give him the edge over his rival, Michael Buchwalder, as the two-day Drennan Knockout Cup Final gets underway on the Match Lake at Docklow Pools near Hereford.

The contest – which is decided on cumulative weight over two days, will see Lee Kerry go head-to-head with fellow Preston Innovations rod, Michael Buchwalder. Today has seen Lee draw Peg 8 on the Match Lake, and Michael draw Peg 10 – and both anglers are said to be happy with their draws.

Michael commented: “I think both pegs are very even, and present a lot of different options. My peg has a very inviting-looking margin, which I hope will be good for some better fish later on in the match. To be honest, I am just delighted to have made the final, though, and am looking forward to a couple of good days fishing.”

Michael’s runner, and former knockout cup champion, Ian Didcote added: “I think it’s going to be a great battle, both anglers have plenty of options to go at. I think the angler who comes out on top will be the man who works the hardest over the two days.”

Lee Kerry has also brought a bank runner this year, in the shape of Browning Hotrods ace, Andy Leathers. Lee commented: “I felt the mistake I made in my last final was coming alone, as it left me isolated, and I wasn’t quite sure what was happening. I am sure that over the course of this two-day event I will find myself, ahead at times, and behind at times, and the key will be staying focused. I am sure that having fished this lake in the final before will definitely give me an edge, but Michael is a great angler, so I can’t afford to take anything for granted.”
