The Line Up Is Complete

Openshaw and Frackowiak complete Maver Match This lineup.
Steve Openshaw and Krysztof Frackowiak have become the last two people to qualify for the Maver Match This Final, after winning their respective qualifiers this weekend. The two matches, fished at Tunnel Barn Farm and Barston Lakes.

A good turn-out saw ninety seven anglers attend the 2013 Maver Mega 'Match This' qualifier at the popular Tunnel Barn Farm. Conditions on the day were mixed, with periods of sunshine between short sharp showers. The rain, however, didn't dampen the spirits of the competing anglers with fourteen 100lb + weights being recorded from Canal, Club, Jenny's, New, Extension and House pools.

Winner on the day, and making his way into the big money final on Saturday 31st August, was Lingmere Fisheries ace Stephen Openshaw. Steve drew peg 44 on New pool and opted to fish caster shallow at 6m to take F1's, roach and skimmers before switching to his margins late on to boost his catch and weigh in a superb 172-12-00.

Finishing close behind in second place was Shimano / Maver Midlands rod, Matt Djukic. Matt fished a superb match and pushed Steve all the day, also opting to fish caster shallow, to end the day with 168lbs exactly from peg 33 on New pool. Matt qualifies for the Maver British Pole Championship for his efforts.

Yorkshire Bait's Perry Stone finished in third place on the day from peg 30, also on New pool. Perry, who finished well at Larford Lakes the previous weekend, offered 154-09-00 to the scales to finish ahead of current Mega 'Match This' Champion, Les Thompson (Matrix/Bait-Tech).

Les drew peg 14 on Club pool and finished the match with a excellent 144lbs exactly to win his lake by a massive margin. However, it was not enough to challenge for top spot on the day.

Maver / Bait-Tech man Gavin Butler took fifth place from peg 10 on New pool weighing in 141-14-00 to qualify for the 2013 British Pole Championships and round off a very close top five.

Sundays match saw one hundred and sixteen anglers line the banks of the main Match Lake at Solihull's Barston Lakes.
Making his way through to the final was Krzysztof Frackowiak. Krzysztof drew peg 124 and fished a Method feeder, feeding 8mm pellets over the top to end the day with a match-winning 117-08-00 of carp, and top a high quality field.

Jamie Hawkins (Ringer Baits) finished runner-up on the day from peg 121. Fishing the Method feeder long, Jamie finished the day with 92-04-00 just missing out on the Grand Final, but qualifying for the Maver British Pole Championships. Tim Bull finished in third place from peg 22. Having transferred his ticket from Mel Hodgson just a few days before the match,
Tim very nearly made his last minute entry count missing out of the final by just two places.

Finishing in fourth place on the day was Pole Fishing magazine's Jon Arthur. Jon, who has enjoyed a very consistent 2013 Mega 'Match This' qualifier campaign, finished with 76-04 from peg 14 to effectively qualify for the British Pole Championships a sixth time! Jon also fished the Method feeder long to record his fourth place weight.

Kian Wardle finished in fifth place from peg number 123. Again, fishing the method feeder long, Kian ended the day with 66-14-00 to book a place in the Maver British Pole Championships.
