Match This On Sky

Sky Sports to cover Maver Match This Final
Sky Sports have announced a special one hour angling show, covering the £50,000 Maver Match This finals in August.

The programme will be presented by Rob Hughes, who also hosts the British Carp Angling Championship and UK Championship events and appears as a reporter at Fish 'O' Mania for Sky. Rob said “It’s great to see that Sky are supporting angling as they have for a number of years. These events showcase our sport at the highest level and what better place to see them than Sky Sports”

Event organiser Phil Briscoe added “We’ve worked hard with the Match This concept which has become a major event in the angling calendar and we’re really pleased to see that Sky are covering it. It’s a big prize that all anglers want to win, and the fact that it will now be on television adds a further dimension for both competitors and spectators alike”.

The event takes place on the Match Lake at Maver Larford lakes on the 31st August, and will be shown on Sky in the autumn. Competing are some of the top names in the UK competition world including Fish 'O' Mania XX winner Jamie Hughes, former Match This Champion Andy Power, England International Tommy Pickering and Match and Pole Fishing's own Tom Scholey.

The Maver Mega Match This event is the richest angling competition in the history of the sport, offering one lucky angler the opportunity to lift the coveted Match This trophy and receive the minimum £50,000 first place prize.

There will also be an equally prestigious team championship event taking place on Sunday 1st September, which will see national representation from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as International representation for the very first time from team Poland.

Members of the public are actively encouraged to come and view both events with food and drinks available on-site and activities for all the family.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to view Maver fishing tackle within a purpose-built 12m x 18m marquee housing all of the latest product innovations. There will also be a number of high profile anglers on site offering tips, advice and product demonstrations including Maver’s own Steve Mayo.

Entry into Larford Lakes is completely free of charge on both Saturday and Sunday with a small car park charge of just £3 per car for the use of a safe and secure hard-standing car park.

Gates open for spectators from 09:30am onwards on both days. Saturday’s Grand Final commences at 12 noon and ends at 17:00. The final presentation will take place at approximately 18:00. Sunday’s Team Championship final will fish from 12 noon until 17:00 with gates opening to the public from 09:30am.
