Maver Answer Sos!

Company’s  generous gesture to family in need.
When Peter Bolt, owner and manager of Orpington Tackle in Kent, heard that a local family was going through a difficult time, he was only to happy to get involved and help kit fishing mad youngster, Ajay, out with the gear that he needed to develop his love of the sport – but even he couldn’t have forseen the unbelievable generosity of tackle company Maver UK, when they learnt of the family’s plight.

Peter explained: “I have known young Ajay’s family for some time, as he is in the same class as my daughter at school. Unfortunately, his father was injured in a motorcycle accident, meaning he is now wheel chair bound – so it is difficult for him to take his son fishing.

Fortunately for the family, TV show, DIY SOS got involved and agreed to help the family through a very difficult time. I mentioned young Ajay's plight to the Maver rep for our area. The next thing I knew, a large package turned up at the store, including rods, a seatbox, a pole and various other tackle accessories – giving young Ajay everything he needed to set up properly in the sport. It really was a fantastic gesture of generosity on the part of the Maver.

Obviously, I was only too happy to chip in with some smaller terminal tackle for the boy, and I must admit in the end I felt a bit jealous – he had a better set up than me! The crew took some film footage of young Ajay receiving his prize, which will hopefully make the final cut, and show to the public just how generous they have been.

All in all, it was a fantastic gesture – and will hopefully cement the lad as an angler for life.”

Maver UK’s Managing Director, Phil Briscoe added: “As you might imagine with a company as big as Maver, we get a lot of requests for free tackle, and we simply cannot afford to help everybody.

Every now and then though, you hear about a genuine cause that really tugs at the heart strings, and when this happens we try and help out as much as we can. From what we were told, poor Ajay has got very little in the way of tackle, but a massive desire to go fishing and catch fish!

What we sent him should see him well set up to get out on the bank and fulfil his love of fishing. He will hopefully be an angler for many years to come.”
