New £5,000 Festival!

Ian Heaps sponsors big money event.
Pembrokeshire’s Holgan Farm Fishery, owned by former World Champion, Ian Heaps is to hold a festival – with a prize fund of more than £5,000.

The event is set to coincide with Pembrokeshire’s Fish Week – and carries a first prize of £2,000! Ian explained: “I was eager to get involved with what is an important week for my area, and decided that running a festival would be the perfect way to do so!

With the current financial climate, I was keen to keep things cheap – and have managed to secure a deal with a local caravan park. This means that I can offer festival entry, and accommodation for just £260 per person.

Taking place between the 22nd and 29th of June, anglers will arrive on Saturday the 22nd, and enjoy a couple of days pleasure fishing before the first day of the festival on Monday 24th June. Anglers will then compete over five days to win a place in the grand final, which will take place on Saturday 29th of June.

The event will be limited to 60 anglers, who will fish on three separate lakes, with twenty anglers on each. The winner of each lake on each week day will win a place in a grand final – where they will fish for the festival prize fund.  There will also be an optional pool on each day, to make up the daily money.

The nice thing about this format is that as the week goes, anglers are increasingly likely to qualify –  as more and more people competing have already won a place, so Fridays match should be a real crescendo.

Pleasingly, the caravans that I have managed to secure are of a very high quality, and on a nice site with a good pub on it just a couple of miles from the fishery – so anglers can look forward to a week in comfort!”
