Event 1: Sonubaits Veterans Spring Cup – 2026 Ticket

£35.00 (80 tickets)

Event Description
It’s time to get booked on for one of our fastest selling events for anglers over the age of 60! Held at Barston Lakes on Friday, April 17th this is one you don’t want to miss!

All of the events in our busy match calendar were really popular again in 2025 and attracted a great many competitors, none more so than the Sonubaits Veterans Spring Cup – it sold out within days of the tickets going on sale!

Just like last time it will be held at the fabulous Barston Lakes in the West Midlands, on Friday, April 17th. The lake is rammed with skimmers all hungry for bait in the spring, but the carp will be waking up too and ready for a nibble – which do you go for, or do you target both? The choice will be up to the competitors, as this is an any method, all species contest.

Once again Sonubaits will be putting up some great prizes and there will be plenty of cash to be won too.

Don’t hang about though, there is a strict limit of 80 anglers and it’s first come, first served. Oh, and don’t forget you have to be aged 60 or over to enter!

Darren Cox, Garbolino’s UK general manager, stated: “The event continues to get bigger and better every year. You can choose the qualifier that suits your style. Then, if you are fortunate enough to get to the final at the wonderful Barston Lakes you can also fish to your strengths as so many methods are capable of producing the winning weight.”The event has three qualifying rounds, each seeing a number of club level anglers making their way through to the 45-man final. It’s difficult to enforce any entry standards but this year all entrants must be available to fish the final at the time of fishing the qualifier, must not have fished in big-money matches such as Fish ‘O’ Mania, Match This, Feeder Masters, Golden Reel and Golden Rod finals and similar, and must not be paid or sponsored by major tackle or bait brands. Here’s what Nick had to say about it: “Feeder and bomb leagues are proving very popular on commercial fisheries up and down the country and Shimano wanted to be part of it.

In conjunction with Match Fishing magazine I have come up with a format of four qualifying matches where the main aim of every angler is to make it to the big-money final, with an impressive £5,000* to the winner.

This year there are four qualifying events of 60 anglers with 15 anglers from each going through to a 60-man final, with a massive prize pot of £5,000* going to the overall winner, £2,500* to the second-placed angler and £1,250* for third, plus plenty of other cash and tackle prizes.
