Quaker Steal The Show
Northeast rods in Winter League glory
Browning Quaker have won the Angling Trust Winter League Final on the tidal River Trent. The team consisted of Martin Robson, Johnny Maddison, Peter Close, Andy Dargue, Andy Nelson, Neil Nicholson, Mala Dunlop, Louis Mackintosh, Scott Lister and Chris Gowling.
A delighted team captain, Martin Robson, explained: "I don't think that it has quite sunk in to the lads yet just what they have managed to achieve. This really is the proudest moment in our team's history, and the nice thing is that its been a real team effort.
"We expected the going to be tough, so our team plan was to start by fishing light, and get a fish in the net. After that, it was down to the anglers to make their own decisions, and fish each peg as they saw fit. The only other common theme between us was our groundbait mix, which comprised 1/3 Browning Black Magic, 1/3 Browning Gardons, and 1/3 Sensas Crazybait Gold.
"Special praise must go to our team's top performers: Neil Nicholson, Mala Dunlop and Jonny Maddison, all of whom caught good weights, from what were thought to be barren areas. It is a day we will all remember for the rest of our lives."
Result:
1 Browning Quaker
2 Leicester Sensas
3 Daiwa Dorking
Individual Winner: Liam Braddell (pictured below)
