Racist Sign Slammed!

Fishery bans Eastern European anglers.
A Warwickshire fishery owner has made national headlines after banning Eastern European anglers from his fishery. Eddie Whitehead, owner of Dog Lane Fishery near Napton, put up a sign reading “No Eastern Europeans” after he had almost £10,000 worth of carp stolen.

Eddie claims that migrant workers arrive just before dusk and fish his lakes – before taking what they catch for the table.

Police have begun an investigation after complaints suggesting the sign was racist, a claim that Mr Whitehead strongly denies.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Constabulary has confirmed that Mr Whitehead has been asked to take the signs down, and that a full investigation has begun.

Speaking to BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, Eddie commented: “Over in Poland, or wherever they come from, it's a speciality that what they catch they eat, but they've got to realise they're in England and they can't do that here.

"It's just cost me £9,600 to restock the lakes and I need to make my living."
