Roach Boost For Packington

Big redfins stocked in Midlands commercial.

Meriden’s Packington Somers Fishery has been stocked with over 1,000lb of big roach. The move comes after one of the trout lakes at the complex needed to be drained for repair work - meaning that its stocks of silverfish needed to be relocated.

Owner, John Birchall chose Molands and Willow pool at the complex to house the fish, and already catches have risen dramatically. He commented: “We are very fortunate as a fishery to have trout lakes on site as well, as they prove great natural breeding grounds for coarse fish too. Alongside the roach, we have also stocked more tench into both lakes - which have also been feeding, though I expect to really start to see them when the weather warms up next year.

We are hoping to restock all the lakes through the coarse of the winter, and with our emphasis being on maintaining a mixed venue.”
