Show Stopper!

Great Northern Fishing show in Jeopardy, but Fish O Mania will go ahead.
The Great Northern Fishing Show, which accompanied the famous Fish O Mania event aired live on Sky Sports, looks unlikely to run in 2013 following a bust up between show bosses.

The show organiser, and former Cudmore Fisheries boss, Cyril Brewster has left his post, following a row with land owner, Edward Mainwaring. A press release to exhibitors from Cyrils’ wife, Sue Brewster stated: “Due to matters beyond Cyril’s control he will not be running the Great Northern Fishing Show at Cudmore Fisheries this year during Fish O Mania. I would like you all to know that this was not Cyril’s decision, and it is a shame that the decision was taken after exhibitor space was fully booked.”

Matchroom Sports Media Director, Luke Riches commented: “I am obviously disappointed that the show looks unlikely to go ahead – but it will not effect the main event of the weekend- which is the Fish O Mania Final. This is still going ahead as planned – the only difference from our point of view is that it will now be run in conjunction with the land owner, rather than with Cyril.

From where we are standing, the most important thing is that we are able to produce a good television programe – and that means crowds on the banks. Over the past four years at Cudmore, we have enjoyed some pretty horrendous weather conditions, but people have still turned up in their drove to witness what many consider to be match angling's finest spectacle. We are confident that the event alone is enough to attract a similar number of people once again.”
