Skimmers On The Feed

Big fish boosts England's hopes.
With just over an hour to go, England's hopes of a team gold have received a boost - after Des Shipp, who was thought to be last in his section, has banked a skimmer, and several decent roach in the last few minutes. It is thought that this has pushed him up 12 places, to sixth in his section.

Things aren't going so well for Will Raison now however, as more and more big fish are being caught in his section. The former World Champion is now reported to be catching very little, and the management is expected to instruct him to target bonus fish for the remainder of the match.

Steve Hemingray and Alan Scotthorne are keeping England's hopes firmly on track, and are both winning their sections comfortably. They are expected to finish the match with over 100 fish each. If they do both manage section wins, it is expected it would come down to weight to determine which of them is crowned individual world champion.

Like the rest of the lads, Sean Ashby is putting in an exceptional team performance, and is thought to be in the top five of his section at the present time.

England manager, Mark Downes said: "As it stands, it is very difficult to say how we are doing team wise. My estimates on paper put us three points clear of Poland, but with better fish starting to feed, this could all change in an instant."

Wales are also said to be fairing well, with bank runner Amer Jawad saying all the country's anglers are in the top eight in their sections, giving them a good chance of a medal.
