The Strongest Line Up Ever?

Commercial ace Speed is final Fisho qualifier.
Nick Speed has completed the line-up for the 2013 Fish 'O' Mania Final, which takes place at Cudmore Fishery on Saturday, July 13th.

Many are hailing the line-up, which includes nine fully sponsored anglers, three former and current England internationals, and six former winners of big-money events, as the strongest ever.

Bright sunshine and a warm breeze greeted the competitors for the last Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier of the year at Lindholme Lakes, Epworth.

The fish responded to these good conditions, and this was clearly illustrated when the top five anglers all broke the ton, and the backing weights were equally impressive with another 26 anglers recording over 60lb.

Only one of the 30 10-peg sections was won with less than 30lb. Venue expert and angling consultant Nick Speed from Sheffield put a tremendous 116lb 1oz on the scales to take victory, comprising carp to 5lb plus lots of smaller F1s. Nick drew Peg 45 on Bonsai Pool and caught the bulk of his fish on the Method feeder tight to an island, with pellet being the winning hook bait.

Very close in runner-up spot was Adam Richards from Billingham in Teesside, who, next door to the winner, weighed 111lb 11oz on Bonsai Peg 44.  Adam had carp to 6lb also on the feeder fishing tight across with pellet. In third place was Matt Arnold from Spalding who weighed 111lb 4oz at Bonsai Peg 71. Matt caught carp to 6lb on the pole fishing long to the island mainly on dead maggot.

Fourth spot went to David Wilson from Thirsk with 102lb on Bonsai at Peg 69. Fifth place was a former Fish ‘O’ Mania Champion Shane Atkin with 101lb 7oz from Split Peg 23.
