Trentmen Top At Lakeside!

Tight finish in final round of Winter League.
Matrix Dynamite Trentmen have won the Lakeside Fishery Winter League, after a close finish. Going in to the final round Trentmen were winning the league by a four-point margin, but a late surge by second-placed team, Daylite Baits almost saw victory snatched from their grasp.
On the day, Daylite Baits took victory with a 10-point score, but Trentmen managed to clinch the overall title after weight countback put them 45lb in front.

Trentmen’s Tom Scholey explained: “As always, it has been a great Winter League at Lakeside, and it is testament to the quality of the silver fish sport on offer that upwards of 20lb of fish was generally required for good section points.

"It has also been nice how close the competition has been – with three teams in contention of victory going into the final round, and almost every team in the league winning a round at some point through the winter.

"One of the reasons that the league is so popular is that teams are allowed to sub anglers in if members aren’t available to fish. Alongside our core squad of myself, Matt Godfrey, Leigh Hodgkinson and Ben Holmes, I would like to thank Rob Perkins, Axel Lill, Brian Martin, Mick Elliott, Glenn Lawrence and
Johnny Freeborn who have all stood in for us at some point along the way.

"We are really looking forward to next year's league, when we will be going all out to do the double!”

In the individual stakes, it was Daylite Bait’s Gary Brookes who took victory with a brilliant 13-point score, with Alan Hopkins finishing second on 16 points.
