Valuable Catch

Lucky angler catches £10,000 cash at CLA Game Fair!
Jersey-based accountant Andrew Dann was the lucky recipient of £10,000 cash after he won Fish for a Fortune at this year’s CLA Game Fair at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.

Entrants had just 20 minutes to catch a fish in the lake to then be eligible to be entered into the cash prize draw. At 4pm on the Sunday of the Show, Andrew’s name was plucked out of the hat at the Fish for a Fortune pontoon.

The married father of two commented: “I was delighted to receive the news of my win! I enjoy all types of fishing, and often go course fishing. To increase my chances of catching something, I waited until early Sunday morning when it was much cooler. I caught a 4lb common carp with just minutes to spare – at one point it was touch and go whether or not I would actually land it as the line got caught up in weeds. But thankfully I hauled it out within my allotted time slot. This year was the first year I have visited the CLA Game Fair, and we were mightily impressed with the show. Winning the cash was simply incredible!” So what does Andrew plan to spend the cash on? “So far I have made two equal donations to Holidays for Heros and Fishing for Heros. I have not decided what I will spend the rest on yet – possibly more charitable donations.”

CLA Game Fair Director Andrew Crawford said: “Congratulations to Andrew. I am delighted at the tremendous reception we’ve received from the angling fraternity over the event, and look forward to welcoming them all back for next year’s CLA Game Fair at Blenheim Palace. A huge thank you to National Fishing Month and Angling Trade Association for aiding in the facilitation and organisation of the event which was a great success and encouraged many first time anglers to have a go!”
