Wakelin Crowned Silver King!

Adam Wakelin wins White Acres Garbolino Winter Festival.
Adam Wakelin has been crowned champion of the Garbolino Winter Festival at Cornwall’s White Acres Fishery, after recording a maximum 24 point score. The contest saw 60 of the country’s best anglers battle it out, in a five day event in which only silver fish counted.

Adam commented: “It is a great feeling lifting the trophy, as the fishing is always really good on this festival. Over the course of the week, I have found myself fishing for F1s, roach, skimmers and perch- and have had plenty of bites every day. Going into the last day, it was very close between several anglers – so to go all the way and win rounds off whats been a very good year for me. “

Second place was taken by the defending champion, Callum Dicks. The Bristol ace has won three festivals over the past five years, including two in the last two years, and came very close to making it three wins- finishing just one point behind Adam. Garbolino ace Grant Albutt finished third, tying with
Callum, but losing out on his dropped result.

Event sponsor, Darren Cox commented: “Once again, the Winter Festival has been a great week - despite terrible weather conditions, that saw competitors lashed with wind, rain and hail! Fortunately, this hasn’t stopped the fish from feeding, and weights have been really consistent on all lakes. Congratulations to Adam, he is a very worthy winner.”
