Match ace gives pupil a lesson to remember.
When Simon Price drew next to Middy and Bait-Tech-backed match ace Lee Werrett on a recent competition, he knew that he would have his work cut out to beat the Welsh commercial fishing maestro.

As expected, all Simon could do was watch as Lee put together a match-winning 225lb net of carp, fishing paste on the short pole, while he struggled.

Simon explained: “I approached Lee after the match to see if he would be able to pass on any tips regarding paste fishing, as it is certainly not one of my strongest methods. He said it would take him too long to explain the ins and outs of the method, and would be far easier for him to take me out on the bank and show me!

"I couldn’t believe that a star angler had been so generous to agree to do something like that – and, sure enough, a week later, he met me on the bank of Acorn Fishery for a lesson. Five hours later and my fishing was transformed. I was hardly missing any bites and was landing fish far more regularly. I even managed a fifth place in my next match fishing paste, so I couldn’t be more grateful to Lee for what he has done for me!

"The thing I really couldn’t believe was that Lee wouldn’t let me give him a penny for his efforts though, despite offering him several times. He really is a true credit to his sponsors.”
