Wootton Signs For Starlets

Leicester rod to 'broaden his horizons.'
Regular Match Fishing and Pole Fishing contributor Rob Wootton has announced that he has signed for the Midlands' top team – Kamasan Starlets.

Rob, who is individually sponsored by Shimano and Dynamite Baits has previously had a reputation for being an individual angler. The Leicester based rod has enjoyed a great run of form over the last couple of years, and was last year’s Drennan Knockout Cup Champion, and won this year's Shakespeare Championship at Evesham. Many also consider him to be a contender for a place in the England Feeder Team.

On making the signing, Rob commented: “My individual angling has always come first, and more than likely will continue to do so, but I felt the time was right to join a top team. Maybe in the past I had nothing to offer them, and now I do – so when I was approached by Steve Hemingray and Mark Downes to join, it was too good an offer to turn down. It will be nice to fish with a team of well respected anglers who you can rely on in tough situations.”

Starlets manager Mark Downes added: “It really is great news to have Rob on board. His recent pedigree speaks for itself. He will be a huge asset to our team, especially given the forthcoming National on the tidal River Trent. I’m sure he will broaden his horizons by fishing for us.”
