Angling Trust Veterans, Disabled and Ladies' Team Trials and Assessment dates announced.
The Angling Trust is looking for talented anglers to compete in trials and assessments to help select squads for the Veterans, Disabled and Ladies national teams. The England selectors will be looking for anglers who can demonstrate their ability to fish at international level.

Hayfield Lakes in South Yorkshire will be the first setting for the Veterans and Disabled trial and assessment on Saturday 23rd March 2013, followed by the Ladies’ the following day on Sunday 24th March.

The trials will be fished to FIPSed rules, and bloodworm and joker will have to be used during each 4 hour assessment, which will be float fishing only.

Only natural baits are allowed so pellets, meat or boilies etc are banned, not only as a hook bait but also as part of the ground bait limit.

The bloodworm and joker will be limited to 3/4 litre per person and will be supplied by the Manager, but must be paid for by the angler.

All nominees must have individual membership of the Angling Trust on the day of the trials and assessments, and anyone wishing to participate in the Veterans trial must be 60 years of age by 31st December 2012.

Dick Clegg, OBE, International Events Manager for the Angling Trust stated, “Since there is no Sport England funding for International angling, team members will be expected to help raise the money to participate by attending race nights, raffle days, or fishing competitions etc. The balance of the cost of competing will then have to be paid for equally by those selected for the World Championship teams.”

If anyone is interested in taking part in the trials and assessment days please supply a CV including: full name, address, email address, date of birth, home and mobile contact telephone numbers, Angling Trust individual membership number, and the last three years of their recent angling achievements to:
