England Call Up For Talented U18s & U23s Coarse Anglers

Are you good enough to fish for your country?

The Angling Trust is looking for talented coarse anglers who would like to apply for the England Under-18 and Under-23 youth assessments.

The U18 and U23 Youth World Championships are due to be staged at Smederevo, in Serbia, on  August 7th and 8th, 2015, and a team is required to represent England and team sponsors, Sensas for the U18s and Drennan for the U23s.

Where and when

The Sensas Team England youth assessment for the U18s will take place on Sunday, March 29th, 2015 at Makins Fishery, Nuneaton, in Warwickshire. Applicants must have been under 18 years of age on  December 31st, 2014 to apply.

Applicants who are invited along must impress the Sensas U18s England manager, Steve Sanders, who will be looking for anglers with the ability to fish under pressure and to international rules.  Anglers must be proficient in fishing bloodworm on the pole for roach, skimmers and perch.

The Drennan Team England youth assessment for the U23s will take place on Saturday, March 14th,  2015, on the Gloucester Canal between Hempsted Bridge and the Turning Bay over a four-hour session.  Applicants must have been under 23 years of age on  December 31st, 2014, to apply.

Mark Downes, Drennan Team England manager of the U23s, will be looking for anglers with the ability to fish calmly while under pressure and the ability to think on their feet.

The venue will be a tough one where the pole will play a major role, so the assessment will be concentrating on pole and bloodworm fished at six to eight metres and a full 13 metres.

All competitors will be fishing to full international rules, which are available on the FIPSed website - click here:
