Sunday saw the final round of the Angling Direct/Big Fish Essex Summer League being contested on the River Chelmer at Hoe Mill and Paper Mills. With four wins out of five rounds Browning Wickford Y took the league title with 195 points, second was Browning Wickford X with 174 points and JP Tackle A third with 147.

Strong winds make thing tricky at Sherwood, but still the ton bags keep coming. Holmedale Lake Wednesday 14/9/1122 fished Due of the strong winds on the day event winner John Darby opted to fished the pole short at 5m with meat over pellet at peg 39. It was a decision that saw him catch all match, landing carp to 10lb to amass the only ton of the competition with a level 118lb. Second placed Roy Butterfield also fished the pole but with corn out at 7m and down both margins for carp to 7lb, just heading off the tight completion behind him with 84lb 7oz.

Some hard fishing conditions to contend with during three matches at Westwood Lakes £1000 qualifier Skylark LakeTuesday September 6Tuesdays open match was affected by extreme winds making fishing difficult on Skylark. Venue specialist Steve Lane made the most of an end peg and caught steady at 4m and from his left hand margin to total 53lb for the win. Second place went to Sean Moss who had to resort to fishing the feeder for 42lb 08oz.
