This three-day annual event goes from strength-to-strength thanks to the excellent organisation of Glyn Sherwood and his team, and it was fitting that Glyn achieved his best result so far. Day 1 – Redhill Fishery MonmouthCompetitors were greeted with heavy drizzle on the first day at Redhill, Monmouth where the 33 anglers were spread over Molly’s and Sophie’s. The fishing was surprisingly below par considering recent results at the venue, but give young Sam Prosser a half decent peg and everyone else is in catch up mode. Sam didn’t disappoint turning on a great display of paste and pellet fishing for a clear win overall from Molly’s peg 20 in section D, beating venue specialist Tony Summers into second place on the next peg.

Due to the overwhelming response from the first under 12s match fishing competition held in April 2011 at Redbridge Lakes; Gordon Bullock, owner and Managing Director of the Essex based match fishing venue decided it was time to do it all over again! On Wednesday 27th July 2011, Redbridge Lakes blew the whistle to start the second under 12s match fishing competition. Once again, Redbridge Lakes was overrun with eager kids, both boys and girls, ready to go into battle to win the prestigious title of “Under 12s Champion”. Our previous winner, Louis Bell was at the tournament to make a valiant attempt to retain his crown; however, he clearly had some stiff competition as Redbridge Lakes was awash with would be Kings and Queens of the under 12s crown. Each child was given a 15 minutes fishing session with one of our on-site expert anglers.

Danny won from peg 67 in the far deep corner of the Barston lake. He fished long into the corner, having to stand most of the time to see his float over the reeds. His float was right nby the edges of the foot path. As the busy footpath runs along the edge of the lake, and is at its closest in the corner, yet didn't bother the fish as he took 4 carp to 10lb, and another dozen smaller ones to tip 53.

Several members, committee members and junior anglers of the Carlow Coarse Angling Club made the long journey to Co. Cavan last week to fish the coveted All Ireland Championships. The junior anglers fished their match on the Saturday 23rd July whilst the senior and lady anglers fished on Sunday 24th July on the picturesque lake in Killyshandra. All the junior anglers in attendance struggled on the day due to the very high sun and very little cloud cover.
