Carr Vale to host two-day competitionCarr Vale Fishery in Bolsover is hosting a two-day Christmas competition. Taking place on Saturday, 28th and Sunday 29th December, the contest will see anglers fish two four-hour matches to decide the overall result. Organiser, Matt Godfrey explained: "Carr Vale is a cracking winter venue, being stuffed to the hilt with roach and skimmers, plus plenty of bonus crucians, and even the occasional tench. Co organiser, Tom Scholey and I always get restless with the lack of matches around Christmas, so last year decided to run something to give anglers an excuse to get out of the house for a few hours.
Winter League survey launched. A survey has been launched to gather opinions and ideas from match anglers about the Winter League. The
survey aims to improve satisfaction among existing Winter League
anglers, as well as increase the number of competitors countrywide, and
create more leagues. Clubs, fisheries and league organisers are invited
to take part regardless of their previous experience with the Winter
League.
Sponsors back Fenland Pairs League. Drennan-backed star, Wayne Swinscoe has announced that he is once again running his popular Fenland Pairs series, starting after Christmas. The league is being supported by Drennan International, Bait-Tech, Dynamite Baits and Westwood Lakes. The four-match league, which takes place on the prolific River Glen and Town Welland in and around Spalding, is expected to once again provide some spectacular sport.
Fenland ace is Winter Festival king!Bait-Tech-backed rod, Lee Klimczuk has won the 2013 Garbolino Winter Festival at White Acres Fishery in Cornwall. The event, which was this year contested by 71 of the country's best silverfish anglers, is unique because normal carp don't count – meaning that weights are dominated by skimmers, roach, brown goldfish and F1s. As expected, the fishing proved exceptional, with numerous 50lb-plus individual weights being recorded throughout the five-day festival. Lee, who has long been regarded as a top allround anglers since his days with the mighty Essex County squad, won the event with a perfect score of four section wins, dropping a third.

England Feeder Team Manager, Tom Pickering reflects on the World Championship. The Preston Innovations England Feeder team arrived back in England yesterday, after competing in the World Championship in South Africa last weekend. Despite securing a team bronze medal behind winners, South Africa, and runners-up Hungary, England team manager, Tom Pickering admitted that he was "gutted" that the team hadn't returned with gold. He explained: "I have no problems holding my hands up and saying we got it wrong.
World Champ wins on British soil. Didier Delannoy proved exactly why he is World Champion this week, after winning a match in England whilst on a business trip over here!The Rive backed ace travels over to England on a yearly basis, and stops with his good friend, and five times former World Champion, Alan Scotthorne, to do a bit of fishing, and service the UK’s Rive accounts. Whilst over here this time, Didier decided to drop on a Sensas International rules match, at Hayfield Lakes near Doncaster. With England Internationals, Alan Scotthorne and Lee Kerry in attendance, both of whom know the venue well, it was never going to be an easy battle to win.

sponsor two new teams, and five top flight individual consultants. River
fishing legend, Wayne Swinscoe, England Feeder Team ace Dean Barlow, England Veteran Roger Marlow,

Winters are all to join the stable as sponsored anglers. In
addition to the signings, Drennan have also sponsored the old Leicester

Christmas Fur & Feather match announced. Sunday 22nd December will host the 2013 annual Fur & Feather match at Tri Cast Weston Pools near Oswestry in Shropshire. Everyone is invited to the match, which costs just £25 to enter including food after the match. Alongside the usual pools payout, there will be random prizes awarded to certain pegs, and there is expected to be some novelty prizes too.
Preston Innovations England Feeder Team take World bronze. Preston Innovations Team England have taken a team bronze medal in this years World Feeder Championship, held at Bloemhof Dam in South Africa. The team lost out on a silver medal on weight countback, by just over 8kg. A tough second day saw the team add 32 points to their 16 point tally from day one - with Tom Pickering being the teams best performer on the day, with a section second.

The home nation is leading the race, with 15 points - including three individual section winners. England boast no section winners, but are lying second on 16 points, two points clear of third placed Hungary.

England ‘catching more than other teams”Preston Innovations Team England are reported to be catching more than other teams in the run up to the World Feeder Championship in South Africa. Match Fishing’s man on the bank reported: “England are catching very well. The lads are very well motivated and have had a good week, team manager, Tommy Pickering has a plan, and it seems to be better than any other teams. ” Carp are the main target species, with the fish that Phil Ringer is holding up proving the average stamp.
