Midlands squads sail through to Match Fishing Team Championship. Maver Midlands and Kamasan Sensas Starlets have qualified for the big-money Match Fishing Team Championship at this year's Evesham Festival. Fourteen teams of five slogged it out on a difficult River Avon that was badly affected by clear water, sunshine and strong winds. It was the increasingly impressive Maver Midlands squad that won the day with a solid 57-point score.
England finish fifth after better second day. Belgium have won the European Championship with 56 points, beating favourites Italy by a 1. 5-point margin. Hungary ended up in third place, with 58 points.

takes place at Cudmore Fishery on Saturday, July 13th. Many are hailing the line-up, which
includes nine fully sponsored anglers, three former and current England internationals, and six former winners of big-money events, as the strongest ever. Bright sunshine and a
warm breeze greeted the competitors for the last Fish ‘O’ Mania
qualifier of the year at Lindholme Lakes, Epworth.

Joint England boss Mark Downes says his side are in with a chance on a challenging River Danube in Serbia, but conditions have been changeable after the river rose almost to the top of its banks last week. He explained: "We have caught plenty of fish in practice – but the river has dropped 1. 5 metres over the last few days, and the tactics, and the species that have been feeding, have changed accordingly.

Various circumstances saw just 19 anglers compete for the title of the Angling Trust National Champion at the scenic Blake Hall Fishery near Cheadle in Staffordshire. The pool, whilst not renowned for really big weights, has developed a fair reputation for delivering close matches where 50-60lb of fish can turn up almost anywhere. However, poor weather leading up to Saturday's match meant that the fishing was extremely hard.
Local expert predicts difficult Winter League Final. "I have looked through the tide tables for the year, and from what I can see, the Angling Trust has chosen the most difficult tide of the year for this year's Winter League Final. The match is taking place on the North and South Clifton, Laughterton and Besthorpe stretches of the river next Saturday, July 6th.
