Get Pinging! Jamie Hughes likes to keep in touch with the ever changing behaviour of fish. Here is why he thinks hard pellets are starting to rule over soft…
Pellets have always been the bait in which I have the most confidence. I have spent years perfecting the way that my bait is prepared and also the best ways of presenting the bait through my rigs. For a long time fishing with softened micros and a soft hook pellet/expander was the best way to approach most fisheries that I visited and at times is still a great method.
We are excited to announce a new format for the Preston Innovations Pole Fishing Pairs competition. In a break from our old league-style format, this year we are holding a series of qualifiers up and down the country, with the top three pairs from each qualifying for the Grand Final at Preston Innovations Woodland View Fishery on Saturday, March 4th.
Here, subject to turnout, and thanks to generous backing from the sponsors Preston Innovations, we will pay out over £11,000 in cash with nine pairs being paid out. The winning pair will walk away with £4,000 and the prestigious Preston Innovations Pole Fishing Pairs trophy.
Run by Lee Kerry, and Match Fishing's own Tom Scholey and Matt Godfrey, this series promises to utilise the fantastic mixed species fishing on offer at Lindholme lakes.
So often there are big catches of silver to be taken in winter months. Now there is a league dedicated to keeping anglers busy at the coldest time of the year.
The league will be POLE only
With the following permitted baits.
Classy Performance… In Four Sizes! Match Fishing puts Browning’s latest reel under the knife.
When buying a reel, the focus of many modern match anglers is to have something lightweight.
Whether you’re casting a Method feeder to an island on your local commercial, or running a stick float down a river, the weight factor of a reel is very important. On picking up the Sphere MgTi from Browning, the first thing that you notice is just how lightweight this piece of kit is.
All-Round Power… Matt Godfrey hits the bank with the latest mid-range weapon from Frenzee.
I love getting out on the bank with what I like to think are mid-range poles. The reason? Simply because they are what I have used for a lot of my own fishing, and very often still do. That’s why I was very excited when the FXT Precision Power pole from Frenzee arrived in our offices.
