Okuma Invicta Reels - Feeder reels for under £100!
When it comes to feeder fishing you need a reel that performs several jobs. It needs to be powerful, smooth and most of all reliable! Okuma’s Invicta reels have all of these bases covered, as well as offering a host of other benefits and features, too.
Okuma states: “The Invicta reels are designed to provide superior strength and effortless power when feeder fishing. Engineered to handle the stresses of modern commercials and big natural venues. The ultra-smooth gearing and drag system ensure it’s a true workhorse that keeps performing fish after fish.”
Sounds like the boxes are all being ticked then, so let’s have a look at some of the features that are on offer. First of all you’re getting a 7+1 bearing system for ultimate smoothness and durability. The HDG-II offers oversized high density gearing along with a precision cut brass pinion gear for durability and a gearing stabilisation design. In addition to this the Flite Drive system also increases gear stability and smoothness, which is pretty impressive as it’s all expertly engineered to fit inside a lightweight and compact body design. The handle is a screw-in design with an ergonomic grip and the drag is smooth thanks to a multi-disc Japanese oiled felt drag system. There’s a ‘Quick Set’ anti-reverse roller bearing and Cyclonic Flow Rotor (CFR) along with a heavy-duty solid aluminium bail arm. There’s an Even Flow Roller System (EFR-II) with DLC coating along with a lightweight spool machined from aluminium. Each reel also comes with a spare aluminium spool and each spool features two stainless steel oversized line clips.
The smallest model in the range is a C3000A, which is likely to be ideal for short-range commercial fishing with shorter 9ft and 10ft rods. This model has a 5.3:1 gear ratio, weighs just 236g and will hold 310 metres of 0.20mm line. The next size up is the C4000A, which Okuma describes as a ‘great all-rounder for fishing commercials’. This has a gear ratio of 5.2:1, tips the scales at 273g and is designed to hold 280 metres of 0.25mm line. The largest of the trio is the C5000A, which looks to be perfect for longer range feeder fishing and more demanding, strenuous styles where you really need that extra winding power. This has the same gear ratio (5.2:1) as the 4000 size, weighs just 281g and will hold 240 metres of 0.30mm line. All three reels come in at under £100, with the smallest 3000 size having an RRP of just £89.95. Great value from Okuma with the level of features and performance on offer here. Keep a lookout on the Match Fishing YouTube channel as we’ll be getting out on the bank with Alex Bones to fish with them very soon.
