enjoyed a great run of form over the last couple of years, and was last
year’s Drennan Knockout Cup Champion, and won this year's Shakespeare
Championship at Evesham.
High interest for popular winter series. The dates have been revealed for the return of the popular Larford Lakes winter-league series, beginning on Sunday, November 10th. The league will see top placed teams qualify for the 2014 Maver Mega Match This Team Championship Final taking place on Sunday, August 31st, 2014. Deadline for entries is Monday, November 4th.
Youngster's festival winning 228lb bream bag from Midlands reservoir. Atherston teenager, Mark Greenway enjoyed the weekend of a lifetime, after winning the Love Lichfield festival with two massive weights of reservoir bream. The first day of this unique event takes place on Stowe Pool, a council owned reservoir that offers day ticket fishing. A total of 31 anglers fished, and Mark took top spot with a colossal 113lb of bream and skimmers, all caught on Method feeder tactics with white boilies on the hook.
Scotthorne's deadly autumn edge revealed. "The anglers who score best as the water cools are the ones who scale down their approach to keep bites coming. " These were the words of England ace Alan Scotthorne, before revealing what he considers to be his biggest autumn commercial fishing edge. "One of my favourite autumn baits is pellet.
Ashby makes the RiverFest Final. There are just three qualifying matches remaining before the RiverFest roadshow draws to a halt. The field already boasts some top-class river rods, including Terry Moroz, Tony Marshall, Rob Wootton, Jamie Robbins, Andrew Murphy, Scott Geens, Matt Derry, Andy Powers and Paul Glenfield. One of the latest qualifiers was former World Champion Sean Ashby, who qualified on the River Trent at Burton upon Trent last weekend.
Drennan northwest star wins at Weston. Drennan northwest angler Richie O Connor has won the Frankie Dorran memorial match fished at Shropshire-based fishery Weston Pools. The match was organised to remember local angler Frank Dorran who passed away earlier this year. Big Frank was a popular regular at the fishery and well known on the northwest match circuit.
River competition receives £4,000 boost. The
Angling Trust has announced a new £4,000 sponsorship deal with Thames
Water and Severn Trent Water that will see both companies backing the
Trust's RiverFest 2013. The sponsorship will ensure that there is a prize
pool of at least £24,000 available to anglers competing at the grand
final, to be held on the River Wye on November 16th and 17th,
2013. This is already the largest payout for a river match in the UK and could
rise further to £26,000 if the remaining qualifiers sell out.
Buchwalder crowned Drennan King. Michael Buchwalder has been crowned the 2013 Drennan Knockout Cup Champion, after putting in another exceptional angling performance at Docklow Pools in Herefordshire, leaving Lee Kerry as this year's runner-up. The Milton Keynes-based kitchen fitter, and Preston Innovations-backed rod, extended his lead of 65lb from yesterday, by winning the second leg of the contest with a 78lb 9oz net, made up predominantly of silver fish. This gave Michael a total cumulative weight of 219-10-0 to Lee's 125-1-0.
Day Two of the Drennan Final gets underway. The second day of the Drennan Knockout Cup final has got underway, on the Day Ticket Lake, at the picturesque Docklow Pools in Herefordshire. Yesterday, Milton Keynes rod Michael Buchwalder established a significant lead over his rival, Lee Kerry – weighing in with 141-1-0 to Lee's 75-14-0. This means that to win, Lee will have to catch 65lb 3oz more than Michael on today's match.
Buchwalder leads as fish play hard to get. As the second day of the Drennan Knockout Cup Final passes its halfway point, Michael Buchwalder still holds a comfortable lead over his rival, Lee Kerry. On the day, Michael is thought to be leading with 35lb to Lee's 29lb, though the venue is believed to be fishing hard. With Michael also holding a lead of 65lb from yesterday's match, Lee's chances of taking the title are decreasing by the minute.

Barnsley Blacks have won the fourth Preston Innovations World Club
Classic, which was fished on the Great Ouse at Littleport in
Cambridgeshire this weekend. The match – which is contested by
the 10 highest finishers in the Division One National, gives the
winning team a place in the World Club Championsip next year, and a
cheque for £7,000, courtesy of the sponsors Preston Innovations. Barnsley’s
team – which was made up of Alan Scotthorne, Lee Kerry, Matt Godfrey,
James Dent, Sam Wildsmith and Steve Barraclough won nine sections out of
a possible 12 over the two-day event – beating second-placed Daiwa
Dorking by a seven-point margin.

The contest – which is decided on cumulative weight over two days, will see Lee Kerry go head-to-head with fellow Preston Innovations rod, Michael Buchwalder. Today has seen Lee draw Peg 8 on the Match Lake, and Michael draw Peg 10 – and both anglers are said to be happy with their draws.

Michael "Bud" Buchwalder has comeback from a slow start on the Drennan Knockout Cup Final at Docklow Pools, following the arrival of some big fish down the margins. Lee Kerry took an early lead, catching occasional carp and silver fish on pole tactics, while Michael struggled to present a rig due to an accumulation of scum and fallen leaves in his peg. At 12.
