McGoldrick & Brettel retake top spot. In a dramatic comeback Dave Brettel and Francis McGoldrick have retaken the top spot in this years World Pairs Angling Championship. They now lead the pack with a lead of almost seven kilos over first place, and 23 kilos over tenth place. The result comes after a brilliant third day for the pair, who both won their sub sections, and added a combined weight of 47.
Addy and Keeley lead the pairs. After another hectic days fishing on the lochs and rivers of Ireland, it was all change at the top for competitors in the 2013 World Pairs Angling Challenge. The first day leaders, Francis McGoldrick and Dave Brettle dropped down to ninth place, with North West duo Lee Addy and Paul Keeley moving into top spot. In the individual stakes, Englands Rod Scott is setting the pace with a two day total of 52.

Big weights on day one of Irish Pairs extravaganza. Francis McGoldrick and Dave Brettell got off to the best possible start in this years World Pairs Angling Challenge. Their combined weight of 46 kilos 540 grams (102lb) was enough to catapult them into the lead, behind Ireland regulars Kevin Rowles and Nigel Franks. A total of 64 pairs lined the banks, in this, the second year of the big money event.

Contested by some of the UK's best commercial teams, including Maver Midlands and Drennan Northwest, the league takes in some of the country's most prolific venues. Taking place over six matches between October and December, the league takes in Cudmore Fishery, Heronbrook Fishery, Partridge Lakes and Boldings Fishery.
Drennan man tops new river festival. The inaugural Thames Festival was fished by 41 anglers on the Thames around Oxford between the 3rd and 5th of September . Despite the sweltering temperatures and the lack of flow the river fished exceptionally. The event was very successful and will definitely become a yearly event that will grow.
Superteam's glory on Midlands canal. Shakespeare
Superteam have won the Angling Trust Division One National Championship on the Burton
and Rugeley stretches of the Trent & Mersey Canal. The event -
which is the largest annual match fished in the UK - was contested by
56 teams of ten. Shakespeare's captain, Darren Massey was delighted with
the result, and commented:"To win off the draw that we had -
that included five pegs that we thought would be really bad - was a
great achievement.
Ireland's premier festival gets underway. This morning saw the first casts of the 2013 Lakelands and Inland Waterways World Pairs Angling Championships. 128 anglers from across Europe went to pegs in the counties of Cavan, Leitrim and Fermanagh to compete to win the glittering prizes, trophies and cash on offer. Started in 2012, the Lakelands and Inland Waterways World Pairs Angling Championships is the richest coarse match in Ireland.
