Feeding very little he landed a dozen carp up to 8lb to give him s winning weight of 59lb 12oz. In second place Steve Keyworth fished the pole and pellet long up to the island for a carp nearly every put in, landing 51lb 6oz with his biggest fish going just 2lb.

Out on top was Gary Walton of Spilsby AC, who fished waggler at 20m with up in the water from peg 11. Gary’s catch consisted mostly of barble ranging from 1lb to just under 9lb, with 11 over 5lb in his total of 108lb 6ozSecond place Adam Playford fished peg 6 ans pushed Gary hard, ending up with 96lb 12oz of mainly carp and ide on maggot and pellet fished down the left hand side of the island at 16m.

But it did result in a tight and competitive frame. Once again the draw bag was kind to Graham Welton as he drew upstream end peg 1, the first peg above the Marina mouth.

Sunday Open Hawk LakeSunday’s open match was fished on the popular Hawk Lake for a change. Despite the strong winds Westwood Lakes-backed Wayne Smith made the most from his fancied drawn peg to net 43lb 10oz of small carp, ide and barble, all taken on maggot hookbait over micro pellets tight to the corner of the bridge. Second was the ever-consistent Mick Stamp with a mixed bag for 37lb.
Hugely successful Inaugural competition sees over 200 anglers hit the bank from across the UK.
One of the biggest matches of the year has proved a huge success when 210 anglers lined 26km of Yorkshire’s river Hull for the River Hull Angling Championship. Run as a fish survey match to help the East Yorkshire Chalk Rivers trust and the Environment Agency, the huge event saw anglers from across the country come to compete. In the end though it was local knowledge that won the day, with Hull angler Mick Anderson bagging 3.

Holmedale Lake Wednesday 26/10/1124 fished Another very cold start to the match but it didn’t seem to bother the carp Andy drew the bore hole peg 31 fishing with the pole and pellet up in the water and on the deck he landed 34 carp – 10lb for a grand total of 115lb 6oz. In second place Nigel was coursing the loss of two double figure carp late in the match that he says would have won him the match, fishing the pole out with pellet and down the margin with corn he managed to land carp – 12lb in his net of 94lb 2oz.
