Pole Pot Perfection!
Our editorial assistant Jake Fowles takes a close look at the impressive Grip-Flex Pro Pole Pots from Middy!
Here at Match Fishing magazine we are continually impressed by the range of products that come out of the Middy factory and grace the shelves of tackle shops up and down the country. It is not always just the flashy range of poles, rods or other larger items that catch our eyes, either. Sometimes small items can be equally impressive, and that is certainly the case with the Grip-Flex Pro Pole Pots that Middy has unleashed on to the market. The Grip-Flex pots come in a two-pot package that features a unique press-flex base, allowing you to attach the pots to your top kits easily.
Matt Godfrey climbs on to a platform and barrow system that has caught his eye this month, the Rigger Plus!
When this arrived in the office, I immediately set it up. I have actually seen plenty of these Rigger barrows and platforms out on the bank, but never given one a close inspection. The actual platform is fully capable of carrying all sizes of seatbox. I personally have a Rive Seatbox, one of the biggest on the market when fully opened up, and this sits on the Rigger Plus with ease.
Perfectly Functional!
Tom Scholey expresses his love of a seatbox system that he firmly believes is the best ever made. There is absolutely no need for any kind of platform when you own an Octbox!
I have certainly been guilty in the past of looking for fashion over function when selecting a seatbox. Indeed, I probably made the ultimate sacrifice for doing so too – when my old ‘pretty’ box gave way, causing me to fall into the lake. I was also guilty of being very cynical when I first set eyes on a Nordik Octbox.
Choose Your Nemesis!Matt Godfrey and Jake Fowles test two of the hottest weapons from Matrix – the flagship Nemesis and the Nemesis 1000… but who will come out on top?
The Nemesis – Matt Godfrey A few weeks ago I was on a feature with Andy Geldart. After wrapping it up I was itching to have a go, and jumped on his box. On picking up his pole, I was gobsmacked! I couldn’t believe Matrix hadn’t pushed and advertised this weapon more, and got in touch with the company to send one for testing.
Moorfields Farm Fisheries at Goole was the ideal testing ground, but editorial assistant Jake Fowles was at my heels with the Nemesis’ little sister pole, the Nemesis 1000, making him my nemesis for the day! After Jake plonked himself on the best peg in the lovely reed-strewn corner, I had to settle for an open-water swim.
