England International, and Maver backed star Callum Dicks has won the inaugural Hobgoblin Individual Championship on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham, with a 10-12-0 net of perch.
He told Match Fishing: “An end peg is often an advantage in this kind of match, so I was really pleased to draw Peg 73, which was the downstream end of the match length. On inspection it soon became clear that most of the flow here is over the far side of the river, so I felt fishing 14.
Alan Scotthorne bags his third Wychavon title, from the same peg he won the match from in 2012!
Five Times World Champion Alan Scotthorne has won his fourth Wychavon Championship from the same peg he last won the event from back in 2012.
He told Match Fishing: “When I stuck my hand in the draw bag, and came out with Peg 46 I couldn’t quite believe it. I actually drew this very same peg in this very same match back in 2012, when I won the Wycvhavon Championship with 23-7-0 of skimmers – which actually set a new festival record at the time. This record only lasted 24 hours, as it happened, as Martyn Howard set another festival record with 39-12-0 of barbel the following day!
“For me, that Wychavon Final two years ago was all about catching skimmers, and I managed a lovely run of quality fish by running a bloodworm and a pinkie over a bed of groundbait and joker.

After winning an open match at Hallcroft Fishery with 289lb carp, Match Fishing chose to follow Colmicstar Jamie Wilde through an afternoon match at the same venue. But would the fish play ball again?
Jamie draws Peg 11 on the island of Moat Pool. It’s opposite the peg where he had 289lb to win the open match at the weekend – a favourable area. “I quite fancy it here, but I’m concerned as I’ve seen a lot of fish in the bottom corner of the lake as we drove on.

What Is A Rover Match?This is a match where the draw determines the order of when you can choose your peg. For example, if you draw Number 1, you will be the first person to choose your swim. An early or late draw is normally favoured, as an early draw means you can choose the good pegs, while a late draw means you can choose areas of the lake with no other anglers around you.

Fishing the waggler is a tactic that requires almost unparalleled hard work and perseverance. However, done correctly, in the right situation it can prove to be devastating, just as I proved in a recent Maver Match This qualifier at Gold Valley Lakes, where I qualified for the £65,000 grand final!
Why The Waggler?
The first and probably most obvious reason for choosing to fish a waggler over the pole is its versatility and range. You can simply fish much further out using a waggler than you can the pole; it is therefore suited perfectly for large lakes or up to features where the pole cannot reach or using a feeder isn’t suitable.
It also thrives on tightly pegged venues where fishing the waggler can create space for yourself by fishing an area of the lake nobody else is venturing into.

The 2016 Mega Match This qualifier campaign finished on a high with another sell-out event at The Glebe. Conditions on the day were not ideal with the fishing proving difficult for some on account of the bright sunshine and lack of any ripple. That said, weights were still exceptional, especially given recent events - testament to just how well the Glebe as a venue is managed and one of the reasons why this particular qualifier venue always proves so popular amongst anglers.
Securing the final 2016 Match This Grand final place was Perry Stone.
