The Commercial House seasonal competition fished on the Kennet and Avon canal. The first really hard frost greeted the anglers who turned out for this Christmas match. Conditions were bright and clear making some areas fish very hard. It was a tight match with only four and a half ounces separating the top three anglers.
The week's open match results from Lincolnshire's Westwood Lakes. All matches this week were switched to the more sheltered Kestrel Lake and anglers found it difficult to present anything. Tuesdays open was won by the in form Ron Roberts using a flavoured small inline method with double dead red maggot with Marukyu 130 ground bait from peg 21. Second place Paul Quinton used similar tactics to the winner but late switch to a maggot feeder saw him have a good last hour.
MAP is offering a whole new way to organise and store your pole’s top kits. Alex Bones took an instant liking to the new system – here’s why. I love a gadget, fishing-related or otherwise, so when Mike Robinson, the man in charge of developing this new product for MAP, showed it to me I was an instant fan. It’s simple – a hard ABS case roughly five feet in length with a zip holding the two halves together and an EVA liner designed specifically to keep up to eight pole top kits in place for transport and storage.

Club Lake, Canberra, ACT, Australia | Date of match: 11th DecemberNumber of anglers: 12Match Report: A day with four seasons in one made it hard fishing for most in the final league match of 2011. Sunny with temps in the 30's for the first half of the match changed with 60 mm of rain, thunder and lightning for the second half. There was even a 25 minute break today in the middle of the match as the lighting got a little close for comfort. Small carp and goldfish made up most of the weights on the pole.
Report from the Sunderland FAC winter league final round match at Silksworth Lake, Sunderland. Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 11/12/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 5Another hard day probably due to the influx of rain water and salt from the roads and the changeable weather. Only Ian managed to get two bites and two fish on the waggler using maggot fishing to the island. A roach and a perch were the obliging culprits.

Many found the going tough as the water had dropped colour and the bottom could be seen out to 6m, so fishing a short line was not an option. Most opted to sit it out for a big billy Perch or an Orfe, a few fished for anything that would bite and those that did managed to winkle out a few Roach and Gudgeon.
Round four of the Harrison Fossdyke League. With a thin layer of ice covering the surface of much of the canal, anglers were expecting conditions to be tough, on what turned out to be a bright, clear day. The match was split between the Odder and Woodcock lengths, and coming out on top with a weight of 6-6-0 from peg 39 at Odder was Dynamite Trentmen rod Rob Perkins. Rob backed up some chunky perch on lobworm, with a net of quality roach taken on bloodworm over groundbait at six metres.

Canberra, ACT, Australia | Date of match: 2nd-4th DecemberNumber of anglers: 44Match Report: 44 anglers fished over 3 days on Australia’s ACT Lake Burley Griffiths for the SCAC run Canberra Classic. Heavy rains and cold nights for a few days before the festival kept the weights down a little lower than normal this year as the carp refused to settle down and feed. Most caught on the method or open end feeder with corn or maggot. Top individual weight on the day was Dara Finnegan on day 3 with 47.
